Renee Engle-Goodner has cultivated a lifelong passion for science and innovation. She earned a B.S. in Genetics from UC Davis, where her research focused on forensic entomology, and an M.S. in Genetics from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where she studied polycystic kidney disease using C. elegans as a molecular model. Alongside her academic work, she taught biology at several community colleges, honing her ability to translate complex science into practical education.

Her industry career began at AgroFresh (then owned by The Dow Chemical Company), where she advanced antimicrobial discovery science and postharvest technologies to extend the shelf life of fruits, vegetables, and flowers. In leadership roles as Lab Manager, EH&S Site Manager, and Senior Biologist, she applied microbiology, analytical chemistry, and synergistic antimicrobial approaches — contributing to a U.S. patent (US20170251673) for the use of benzoxaborole compounds with preservative gases.

Her postharvest science foundation extended into the wine industry, where she led analytical laboratories supporting production and R&D. She directed high-throughput testing, method development and validation, technology adoption, and lab design improvements to optimize workflows and compliance in regulated environments.

In addition to her postharvest and wine expertise, Renee has played a central role in cannabis testing laboratories and continues to consult in this space. She supports cannabis operators and labs with compliance, lab design and setup, method development, quality systems, and scientific integrity in a rapidly evolving regulatory landscape.

With over 20 years of experience across genetics, microbiology, analytical science, compliance, and quality systems, Renee collaborates with clients in agriculture, wine, cannabis, and laboratory sectors. Her specialties include lab design and operations, method validation, postharvest strategies, and remediation of chemical or microbiological contaminants. She is committed to delivering science-driven, credible solutions that ensure product safety and regulatory compliance.
